New Year Plans Predictions and Precautions

“How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon. December is here before it’s June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?” by Dr. Seuss from the poem How did it get so late so soon. Has your 2015 disappeared into thin air? Did you accomplish what you hoped this past year?

In the practice of Feng Shui, 2016 is the year of the Monkey — a year where anything can happen. Not that the last few years haven’t been challenging enough but the influence of the Monkey puts everything into flux. Things will get accomplished but primarily because of personal and individual effort.

This fast-paced New Year will see increases in communication, humor and wit, helping us get through stressful times with grace and ease but not without risk. You will need to look for unconventional solutions to old problems. Daring to be different can lead to success. Nothing this year should be taken for granted, whether politically, financially, professionally, domestically or emotionally. You will need to run with ideas, embrace the inventive, and don’t look back. To put it simply, the Monkey is all about being creative and innovative with what you have.

Plan to Succeed

Use the rearview mirror only to avoid pitfalls. Plan to change in 2016. Have past New Year’s Days been the same for you? Do you begin by making all of those wonderfully well-intended resolutions? Do you even go so far as to say “This time I’m going to make them stick,” only to find you didn’t follow through on any of them?

Make this year different – create a plan. It is going to be a year of change and impulse so why not take advantage of it. Honor yourself this year by keeping your promises to improve or change or whatever it is you choose.

Predict success

The only way to predict success is to create a plan and execute. Without a plan, failure is bound to repeat itself. Begin by making a list of all of the things you’d like to improve in your life in the New Year.

Now comes the important part; choose only three and rank them in order of importance. Then start immediately on number one. Since your conscious mind can only focus on three things at a time, choose wisely and execute. If your objectives are in three different categories, then you can work on each at the same time. If not, choose the most important one and start there.

Other objectives will simply water down the ability to concentrate on the improvement you really want to create. For example, if you need to up your selling game, don’t become distracted by numerous side projects like buying new furniture, changing investments or making a major purchase such as an automobile. These all serve as distractions and will reduce your ability to focus on your goal.

Precaution improves success

Create a Visual Reminder. Once you’ve chosen your top three goals, put into place a precaution that will help guarantee success. Create a “resolution attraction board” as a visual reminder. This can be as simple as a piece of paper with one or two words representing the desired outcome of your resolution or as complex as visualization board with a collage of items representing your goals and desired outcomes.

For example, if you want to lose enough weight to be one size smaller than you currently are, put that size on the paper. Or, if your goal is to travel to Italy this year, put the word Italy or a picture of the Venice canals on your paper. Just be sure that whatever you choose to use on your “resolution attraction” reminder really motivates and reinforces you to achieve your goal. This precaution will help guarantee positive results.

Use Feng Shui Principles to Help

In order to energetically attract your desired result (your resolutions) be sure to add some additional positive energy to your life. Below are some great ways to energize yourself in the New Year.

  1. Look in the mirror every morning and tell yourself you deserve to have abundance (or whatever your resolution is) every day – you will increase your abundance and self-confidence to reach your goal.

  2. Do something that matters every day because you are trading a day of your life for what you do – you will experience hope for the new day ahead.

  3. Execute, execute, execute. Take action. You cannot be successful if you are paralyzed and do not move forward. Follow your plan.

Don’t let it get late too soon as Dr. Seuss warns. As in all areas of your life, when it comes to your resolutions “everything you think, feel, say and do really does matter.” If you think it, you can achieve it. When you feel it, it is within reach. When you say it by putting it on paper, it starts to become reality. When you do it by creating your “resolution attraction” reminder, you are programming your mind and body to follow through. When you energize yourself you have ensured success.
